This year we break two weeks before Easter, instead of traditionally on Holy Thursday.
For those wondering why Easter changes every year and is not the same date, it is
because Easter follows a lunar calendar and is celebrated on the Sunday that follows
the first full moon after March 21, the vernal (spring) equinox. Therefore, Easter
cannot fall earlier than March 22 or later than April 25.This year our Lenten journey continues through the first week of the holidays and
then Holy Week begins on Sunday April 14 with Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday marks
the beginning of the Passion story which is the trial, death and resurrection of Jesus
Christ.I do ask that during Holy week and over the Easter period, please take the time to
explain with your child/ren these events and the meaning for us as Catholics /
Christians. As Fr Bernie wrote in the newsletter last week, you are invited to attend
one of the Holy week celebrations in the Banyo / Nundah Parish (click on the link below for times and venues).
